The powerful medications that are used to put a patient to sleep for a surgical procedure can cause serious injuries to the patient such as brain damage or paralysis if improperly administered. Medical malpractice by an anesthesiologist can easily result in the death of the patient. There are a number of places where an anesthesiologist can commit malpractice:

Pre-operative exam &amp;ndash; this is where the anesthesiologist determines whether the patient is a suitable candidate for anesthesia, whether there are any contraindications to anesthesia in the person&amp;rsquo;s condition and health history, learns of any drug allergies, and of any untoward reactions to anesthesia in the patient&#039;s past
Informed consent &amp;ndash; the patient must be told of the risks and benefits of the various types of anesthesia that can be administered and to decline certain kinds of treatments. The failure to fully advise the patient of the risks, benefits, and alternatives to any course of treatment can be the basis of a malpractice suit against the anesthesiologist.
Errors in administration of the anesthetic agents &amp;ndash; when the drugs are improperly given to the patient, this can be the basis of a medical malpractice lawsuit against the anesthesiologist
Airway management &amp;ndash; the anesthesiologist is responsible for ensuring that the patient is able to receive oxygen throughout the surgery
Intraoperative monitoring &amp;ndash; the anesthesiologist is responsible for monitoring the patients blood pressure, oxygen saturation rate, and other vital signs during surgery. These are critical indicators of the patient&amp;rsquo;s well-being during surgery.
Post-anesthesia care &amp;ndash; this relates to the recovery of the patient after the surgery is done by monitoring the vital signs of the patient as the patient regains consciousness. This allows the early detection of any surgical complications that were not detected in the operating room.

Anesthesiology malpractice cases are very difficult from a medical and legal point of view. Often the patient who is the victim of medical malpractice by an anesthesiologist was not wake or alert enough to describe what was done wrong at the time the malpractice occurred. Anyone considering a medical malpractice claim against an anesthesiologist needs the help of a lawyer who understands this area of medicine and can identify the errors that caused your injuries.</description><link>http://accidentlinks.com/Medical-Malpractice/Anesthesiology-malpractice/</link><item><title>Law Offices of Barry G.
